RELEASE - unisex tee for men and women

About RELEASE:

Release is a play on your expectations. Deer parachuting into the forest below from a WW2 era airplane? Take it as an environmental statement, a statement about peace, about habitat conservation, about our effect on the natural world, or simply just enjoy the image.

Release was originally inspired by the heroic story of my Grandfather's military service in WW2. He was a gunner in a B-17 like the one pictured. His plane was shot down over Dresden where he landed in a lake and was fished out by the Germans. He was the only survivor out of seven. He witnessed his friend and comrade go through the propeller.

The Germans paraded him up and down the town center in a wheelbarrow to show they caught an American. Three days later, a Swiss doctor came to amputate the rest of his toes that had been badly shot in the battle. Five Germans were traded to get him home. As an homage to him, I wanted to depict the dropping of something peaceful; hence the baby deer into the forest.
